Rev. David Su
Rev. David Su was called to Newtown in 1990 from Taiwan. In 1995, he pioneered the Mandarin-speaking ministry of the church. Prior to joining Newtown, he served at Campus Evangelical Fellowship for 14 years -- training full time staff for the organization, discipling young professional and student leaders, and leading evangelistic camps. Pastor Su received the Master of Arts in Religion in 1983 from Christian Witness Theological Seminary.
Pastor Su is from Pingtung, Taiwan, and was a history major. He and his wife has been serving as ministry partners ever since their marraige in 1974. They they have two sons, both of whom currently live in New York and serve in the church; The also have six grandchildren.
Pastor Chris Koch
Pastor Chris Koch was called to Newtown in 2014 as the Associate Pastor serving in the English congregation. Previously Pastor Koch served for 6 years as the Associate Pastor for Worship and Spiritual Formation at the American Protestant Church in The Hague, in the Netherlands.
He is originally from Wisconsin, graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an M.Div., and has ministered in the Southwest and West Coast prior to going overseas. Besides being a pastor, Pastor Koch is also a worship leader and musician/songwriter. He is married to Kathryn, who has lived in NYC since coming to study at the New York Academy of Art in 1995. They have a son named Eben, short for "Ebenezer', which means 'stone of help or redemption' in Hebrew.
Rev. Dr. Tien-Heng Chiu
Rev. Dr. Tien-Heng Chiu was called to Newtown in 2013 as the Assistant Pastor. He received the Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary in 2012, and was ordained in 2013. Prior to joining Newtown, for thirty years Pastor Chiu was a member of the Rutgers Community Christian Church at New Jersey, where he served variously as deacon in the caring and education ministries and chairman of the Board.
Pastor Chiu was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Taiwan. He received the Bachelor of Science in Physics from National Taiwan University, and the Ph.D. in Physics in 1983 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Pastor Chiu worked as a scientist in research and development at Bell Laboratories, and subsequently as a manager in Lucent Technologies. He is married to I-I, who received the Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in 2012. They have one son, who works in the legal field.
Pastor Henry Chiang
Pastor Chiang was called to Newtown in 2017 to serve as the Assistant Pastor for the Taiwanese congregation. Prior to Newtown, he was the pastor for 5 years in the Minnanese and Mandarin congregations at the Fujian Evangelical Church in Richmond, Canada. He received theological training at the Vancouver School of Theology. He also served in several churches in different ministerial capacities during and after his studies.
Pastor Chiang was born in Chiayi, Taiwan, but grew up in Kaohsiung. After completing his university education in Taiwan, he immigrated to Australia. It was there that he committed himself fulltime to the LORD’s calling. He and his wife, Christina have 2 children.
